This Tanzanian coffee is grown on the slopes of Africa's highest and still snowy mountain, Kilimanjaro. Because the bean is grown at height, it grows slowly. It produces a delicious coffee, full of flavor and slightly sweet.
Tanzania ranks third as a coffee producer in Africa, producing about one percent of the world's Arabica coffee.
Most Arabica coffee from Tanzania is grown in both the Kilimanjaro region and the southern highlands. Tanzania's high elevation qualifies almost all of its coffee as Strictly High Grown (SHG). The coffee area in Kilimanjaro is located on the fertile volcanic slopes of Africa's highest mountain, in Tanzania. The altitudes from 1,000 to 1,800 meters above sea level. The region enjoys a stable climate and access to rivers, springs and waterways, which allows the Arabica coffee plant to thrive. About 400,000 farming families live off coffee. Coffee makes up about 20 percent of Tanzania's export earnings.
