For the upcoming Dutch Aeropress Championship we have selected a powerful specialty bean from the Masaguara municipality in Honduras: El Picacho. El Picacho is a washed bean with a fruity and juicy flavour profile. You’ll be surprised by the complex combination of flavours, such as red apple and dark chocolate.
- Farm: El Picacho
- Producer: Apolonio Canales
- Region: Intibuca and Montecillos
- Varietal: Red Catuai, Lempira
- Altitude: 1,600m – 2,000m
- Process: Washed
- Harvest Period: December – April
- Flavour: Red Apple, raspberry, tangerine, caramel, dark chocolate & earl grey
El Picacho starts off slow, with a fruity loveliness that kind of feels like a hug with flavour. If such a thing existed. You’ll first notice delicious notes of red apple, raspberry and tangerine. Light, sunny flavours that make any old weekday taste like a vacation day. (Or a Friday at the very least.)
After that lightness, more complex flavours rear their exquisite heads. Best friends caramel and (dark) chocolate come together to make sure that your sweet tooth gets what it deserves and earl grey’s tea-like vibe takes care of the rest. All in all, El Picacho is a complex, fruity coffee with a juicy flavour profile.
